Penny Richards, whose blogging abilities are humbling, brings word at Disability Studies Blog of a fascinating conference at Swansea (Wales) on Children, Disability, and Community Care from 1850-Present, to be held October 24-25 (2007). Check out the description over at DSB; it sounds great. Disability studies and history -- two of my favored cultural lenses.

*blush*
Thanks. It does look like an excellent conference. I'm saving the program for when I have a chance to really enjoy reading through it (I'm a conference program junkie--like them even more than journal TOCs).
In case I haven't mentioned, your readers who share an interest in history and disability studies may want to subscribe to H-Disability, an H-Net listserv dedicated to the history of disability (which I co-edit with Daniel Wilson), and you can get it by RSS feed.
And there's also the Disability History Association--we're on the verge of getting non-profit status and actively seeking more new members, so if you really love that combination, check it out.
